MELTed Self Care and Be A Health Advocate for You and Loved Ones!
I Went to the ortho today and they did their own X-rays, and the Dr said the avulsion fracture most likely came from a ligament tearing away from the bone (tibia) and it pulled a chunk with it, and I severely sprained all the major ligaments surrounding the joint. I asked about an MRI to be sure of the soft tissues because I heard and felt a horrid tearing at time of injury on the lateral side where most of swelling is and some really wicked bruising. He said an MRI is for when you don’t know what’s going on in there and he knows what it is, and wouldn’t even say an avulsion fracture is a big deal, and so he gave me a boot, another anti-inflammatory script, another pain Rx, asked if I have acid reflux, I said no, and he said you should take Prilosec anyway, and finally said to take aspirin a day so I don’t get a blood clot due to the fact that he doesn’t want me to move for at least 2 weeks, and then after that slowly start moving my toes, foot, and ankle. What? So basically I am with him less than 5 minutes and I have 4 pills to take, and not one word about actually helping my body heal itself!!!
So anyway, I will continue my Traumeel topically and orally for swelling, my daily MELTing, restorative yoga, and some homeopathic and essential oil remedies for healing bone and connective tissues recommended by some awesome ladies. I’ll be talking more about them as I begin. I’m going for some acupuncture and moxa as well soon. I’m Truly grateful to have access and curiosity for the world outside of traditional medicine!
“Patients and their loved ones have the right to ask as many questions as they need to, and they should. No one should take what a doctor tells them without asking questions. Everyone should leave a doctor’s office or hospital understanding what is going on and what is being done about it. Everyone, the doctor and patient alike, should be on the same page, with the same goals in mind.” – Jennifer Hall
Day 30 of #nourishwithyoga our last day, and I’m doing#upavisthakonasana all bolstered up!! This has been such an awesome challenge and I truly believe in movement medicine and the power our bodies have to heal themselves. Yoga is another perfect avenue for healing!!
Thank you to the hosts and sponsors for a beautiful challenge! It was truly inspiring!!! Love and Light!
“The autonomic nervous system is divided into the sympathetic system, which is often identified with the fight-or-flight response, and the parasympathetic, which is identified with what’s been called the relaxation response. When you do yoga – the deep breathing, the stretching, the movements that release muscle tension, the relaxed focus on being present in your body – you initiate a process that turns the fight or flight system off and the relaxation response on. That has a dramatic effect on the body. The heartbeat slows, respiration decreases, blood pressure decreases. The body seizes this chance to turn on the healing mechanisms.” – Richard Faulds

Here are some before and after photos of my foot/ankle. ITs not dramatic, but you can tell how MELT helps coloring, swelling, and you can see some of the discoloration change in some of the pics . . .
